The Child Advocacy Initiative seeks to recognize children's artwork and  local artists who celebrate children. Our site is currently showing the acrylic paintings of Linda Sillars. Ms. Sillars is a psychiatric nurse practitioner who has been painting most of her life. She has studied with various teachers and is influenced by Japanese woodblocks, medieval tapestries as well as Victorian genre. The series of paintings now displayed at the Child Advocacy Initiative depict the relationship between children and their pets: "The moments portrayed attempt to capture the eternal in the everyday and (to express) how internal states are reflected in the external world."
